The Series VA100 Gain Standard Dipoles are used to calibrate the wireless test lab. Errors in the calibration of the wireless test lab are translated into every measurement, so accurate calibration is critical to maintaining a low measurement uncertainty.
There are three critical characteristics of the calibration antenna:
- Its gain must be accurately known.
- Its pattern must be symmetrical so that its gain is the same in all directions.
- It must have a low VSWR so that it accepts the power delivered to it.
Each VA100 dipole is independently calibrated using the 3 antenna method. Although time consuming, this method is one of the most accurate methods for measuring the gain of broad beam antennas. During the manufacturing process each VA100 is carefully adjusted to for a symmetrical azimuth pattern. Typical pattern asymmetries are less than +/-0.05dB. VA100 Series Data Sheet
